Before you upload

Owning a copy of an image does not necessarily mean you own its copyright. Check the licence, attribution requirements, and permission for commercial platform use.

• Use your own photography whenever possible.
• Keep proof of licences or creator permission.
• Do not remove watermarks or falsely claim authorship.

Submit a copyright notice

Use the legal notice form and select Copyright or intellectual property. A complete notice helps us locate the material and assess the claim.

• Identify the copyrighted work or provide a representative list if several works are involved.
• Provide the exact Spoto URL or other information that identifies each disputed item.
• Give your name, contact email, and your relationship to the rights holder.
• Explain why the use is not authorised by the owner, an agent, or the law.
• Confirm that the notice is accurate and submitted in good faith.

How we review notices

We assess sufficiently detailed notices, may request clarification, and may disable or remove content when appropriate. We normally notify the uploader, identify the material affected, and explain available appeal steps unless doing so would create a legal or safety risk.

• A notice is not automatically proof of infringement.
• Incomplete, fraudulent, or abusive notices may be rejected.
• We may share the notice with the uploader or relevant service providers as needed to resolve the claim.
• Required records may be retained after content is removed.

Responding to a removal

If your content was removed by mistake, is licensed, or is otherwise lawful, submit an appeal and include supporting evidence. Do not re-upload the disputed material while review is open. Depending on applicable law and the notice process used, information from your response may be shared with the original claimant.

Repeat infringement

Spoto may restrict uploads, suspend, or terminate accounts that repeatedly or seriously infringe intellectual-property rights. We consider the reliability of notices, successful appeals, account history, and the surrounding circumstances rather than relying only on an automatic count.

Misuse of the notice process

Knowingly submitting false claims or misrepresenting ownership can harm creators and users and may create legal liability. Use the general report category for disputes about accuracy, criticism, privacy, or safety that do not concern intellectual property.

Other intellectual property

The legal notice form can also be used for trademark, impersonation, database-right, or related intellectual-property concerns. Identify the right, registration details where relevant, the disputed use, and why that use is likely to infringe your rights.
